| Obverse description | A pink rectangular border encloses an oval vignette with a pink frame, within which all principal inscriptions are arranged. At the left terminus of the oval, a double-circle cartouche bears the name of the Chamber of Commerce between its rings, while a corresponding double-circle cartouche at the right terminus carries the names of the four constituent towns. The central field presents the coats of arms of the four cities alongside a Haute-Savoie landscape vignette with a bridge and mountain backdrop. |

The Chambres de Commerce across France were pressed into emergency note-issuing roles during the First World War after small-denomination coin virtually vanished from circulation — hoarded by the public and consumed by the war economy simultaneously. Annecy's chamber was among hundreds that responded with locally printed necessity notes, each valid only within its own commercial district.
B. Arnaud of Villeurbanne printed for numerous provincial chambers during this period, making their work almost anonymous in the broader record. The JP reference numbers here span five sequential varieties, likely distinguished by signature combinations or minor typographic differences between printings.
