(Translation: Island of Reunion Colonial Treasury (Decret May 2, 1879) Fifty Cents Saint Denis, June 21, 1866)
Reverse description Black and gray intaglio engraving, with two circular medallions at left and right each enclosing an allegorical female head in profile — one draped with a headscarf, the other helmeted — set against a sunburst of agricultural and maritime attribute clusters. At centre, a rectangular guilloche-bordered cartouche carries the denomination legend above a note of guarantee, with a crossed-anchor maritime vignette below. The legends ÎLE DE LA RÉUNION and TRÉSOR COLONIAL are inscribed at top and bottom respectively, with the engraver's imprint at the lower margin.
