Reverse description The reverse presents a bare-headed left-facing bust of José Gervasio Artigas, the national hero and founding father of Uruguay, rendered in high relief with fine detail to the facial features and military collar. The legend CON LIBERTAD NI OFENDO NI TEMO arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by five-pointed stars, translating as 'With freedom I neither offend nor fear.' The name ARTIGAS appears along the lower left legend, with the denomination 50 CENT at the lower right, separated by a five-pointed star. A beaded border surrounds the entire design.
