Obverse description Plain truncated bust of a male figure facing left, with unfinished lapels at the shoulder truncation, occupying the central field. The encircling legend reads ESTADO L. Y S. DE OAXACA around the upper periphery, referencing the Free and Sovereign State of Oaxaca. The date 1915 appears in the lower exergue, flanked on either side by a raised five-pointed star. The portrait is rendered in relatively low relief with a somewhat crude, provincial style characteristic of emergency wartime coinage.
