Obverse description The Honduran national coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring a triangular shield bearing a volcanic landscape with two castles, flanked by a quiver of arrows and a cornucopia on either side, the whole enclosed within an oval cartouche. The shield is surmounted by a radiant sun and a mural crown, with upright lances and flags flanking the composition on both sides. A decorative wreath and scrollwork encircle the central device, with a small cross ornament pendant at the base. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS arcs around the upper portion of the shield, with the date 1871 appearing in the lower exergual area. The entire design is rendered in high relief with fine detail consistent with a proof-quality pattern strike.
