Obverse description Host coin obverse featuring the Mexican Republic cap-and-rays liberty cap at center, flanked by scales of justice to the left and a sword to the right, with the denomination and fineness legend around the lower periphery. Applied prominently over the central device is the Cuban key countermark, struck in an incuse rectangular punch depicting a key — the official validation mark applied by Cuban authorities to authorize Mexican silver coinage for local circulation. The countermark is boldly impressed and clearly distinguishable from the underlying host coin design.
