Obverse description Crude sand-cast impression of the Mexican national arms, derived from a regular-issue 50 Centavos (KM#445) used as the master pattern. The Mexican eagle, perched on a cactus and clutching a serpent, is faintly discernible at center, surrounded by the legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS. The heavily textured, porous field is characteristic of the sand-casting process employed during the Revolutionary period in Sinaloa, resulting in a noticeably rough and irregular surface throughout.
