| Obverse description | Bare-headed, bearded effigy of King Alfonso XII facing right, rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and sideburns. The truncation of the neck is clean and unadorned. The circular legend is divided by the portrait, reading ALFONSO XII to the left and POR LA G. DE DIOS to the right.
