This issue belongs to the Peso Argentino series, itself a short-lived redenomination introduced in 1983 to replace the inflated Peso at a ratio of 10,000 to 1. Within three years the Peso Argentino was already collapsing under renewed inflation, and by 1985 the Austral replaced it at yet another 1,000-to-1 ratio — meaning these coins circulated across a monetary transition so severe that the unit of account effectively ceased to exist mid-series.
