Obverse description A highly detailed, naturalistic relief of a cowry shell (Monetaria moneta) occupies the central field, depicted dorsal side up with characteristic ridged aperture and smooth, convex dorsum. The circular legend 'REPUBLIQUE DE GUINEE' arcs around the upper periphery in raised Latin characters, flanked by small dots at the lower terminals. The date '1971' is inscribed in the lower field, centered between two dot separators, completing the circular design.

Reverse description The numeral '50' in large, bold relief dominates the central field, with the denomination legend 'CAURIS' inscribed directly below in smaller characters. The central design is framed by a wreath of two symmetrical olive or laurel branches tied at the base, their stems curving outward to form an open wreath. The national motto 'TRAVAIL-JUSTICE-SOLIDARITE' arcs along the upper periphery, while the commemorative date 'LE 1er MARS 1960' curves along the lower periphery, both legends separated by raised dot stops, referencing the introduction of the Guinean franc on 1 March 1960.
