Rwanda has issued collector silver under its own authority since the early 2000s, taking advantage of legislation that allows the National Bank to license foreign mint programs — in this case almost certainly produced by a European private mint rather than any Rwandan facility. The Mayflower connection is purely commemorative, marking the 400th anniversary of the 1620 voyage.
The ship carried 102 passengers; fewer than half survived the first winter at Plymouth Colony.
