Obverse description Portrait of Chiang Kai-shek in military uniform at right, set against an ornate guilloche medallion at centre with the denomination characters 伍萬圓 (Fifty Thousand Yuan). The note is printed in orange-brown with red underprint seal stamps at lower centre. Serial number appears twice in the upper field, flanking the issuer's name across the top margin.

Reverse description Vignette at left of the Central Bank of China headquarters building in Nanking, rendered in fine intaglio line work within a guilloche border. At centre-right, a large guilloche panel carries the numeral denomination 50000 overprinted with the English legend FIFTY THOUSAND GOLD YUAN. Denomination numerals 50000 appear in each corner, with the date 1949 at lower centre and signature lines for Central Manager and Governor.
