Obverse description At centre, the emblem of the Bank of Mongolia — an ornate arched cartouche surmounted by a star and featuring the soyombo symbol, flanked by traditional Mongolian script (Uighur-Mongolian) ornaments on either side, and encircled at the base by a laurel wreath. Within the cartouche, the legend 'Монгол Банк' appears in cursive Cyrillic script. Below the emblem, the face value '50000' is prominently displayed in large numerals, with 'ТӨГРӨГ' beneath it. The lower legend reads 'MONGOLIA • 1 OZ. 9999 GOLD • 1996 •' along the bottom rim. The entire design is struck against a deeply mirrored proof field with a beaded border.

Reverse description Facing bust portrait of Chinggis Khan (Genghis Khan), depicted in traditional Mongol attire including a characteristic helmet or headdress, with a moustache and beard rendered in fine high-relief detail. To the upper right of the portrait, a vertical inscription in traditional Mongolian script (Uighur-Mongolian) appears in the field. The mintmark 'Mo' is visible to the left of the portrait. The legend 'CHINGGIS KHAN 1162–1227' arcs along the lower portion of the coin within an ornate beaded and foliate inner border. The design is struck against a mirrored proof field.
