The Vsevelikoye Voysko Donskoye — the "Great Host of the Don" — issued its own currency throughout the civil war period as the White movement struggled to maintain functioning economies in territory it controlled. By 1919, runaway inflation across all factions, Bolshevik and anti-Bolshevik alike, had forced denominations into the tens of thousands; this 50,000-rouble note reflects that monetary collapse as much as any political ambition.
The handstamp security feature is characteristic of emergency issue practice — applied locally to authenticate notes that could not be produced with full security printing under wartime conditions. The Don government lost Novocherkassk to the Red Army in January 1920, ending independent Cossack administration entirely.
