Additional information

Issued to mark the 75th anniversary of the Grand National Assembly, founded by Mustafa Kemal in April 1920 during the Turkish War of Independence while the Ottoman government in Istanbul remained under Allied occupation. The Ankara-based assembly was effectively a rival sovereignty from its first session — a provisional government that would, within three years, abolish the sultanate entirely.

KM#1033 is a commemorative with limited secondary market depth; most examples remain in original packaging from the Darphane's collector sets of that year.
