Reverse description The reverse reproduces, in high relief within a beaded inner circle, the obverse design of the original gold florin of King Vladislaus I of Hungary (I. Ulászló), struck during his reign from 1440 to 1444. The central motif depicts a frontal standing figure of Saint Ladislaus (Szent László), crowned and robed, holding a sceptre in his right hand and an orb surmounted by a patriarchal cross in his left, rendered in the Gothic style characteristic of medieval Hungarian coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the inner portrait field, reproducing the inscription AVS . REX . S . LADISL from the original florin. The arc legend I. ULÁSZLÓ ARANYFORINTJA appears in the upper outer field, with the reign dates 1440 and 1444 flanking the lower portion of the inner circle.
