The king wears an ornate helmet and elaborate armor with decorative scrollwork at the collar, his long beard rendered with fine engraving. The Armenian inscription ՏՐԴԱՏ Գ. (Tiridates III) appears to the upper left of the effigy, and the numeral 2000 is placed to the upper right, commemorating the 2000th anniversary of his reign.
