Reverse description A large, stylized Latin cross dominates the central field, rendered in high relief against a finely textured background suggestive of fabric or chainmail. Radiating beams of light emanate from behind the upper arm of the cross, evoking a sunburst motif. To the lower right, an oval military badge or emblem of the Armenian Armed Forces is depicted in fine detail, featuring a central cross and a dove within a sunburst, with an Armenian inscription below. The bilingual peripheral legend reads 'ՀԱՅԱՍՏԱՆԻ ԶԻՆՎԱԾ ՈՒԺԵՐ' in Armenian script at the lower arc and 'ARMED FORCES OF ARMENIA' in Latin script at the upper arc.

Additional information

Issued to mark the fourteenth anniversary of the Armenian Armed Forces, reconstituted in 1991 following independence from the Soviet Union — a process complicated by the ongoing war with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh, which had been escalating since 1988 and shaped the new military's earliest doctrine and command structure.
