By the time this note entered circulation, Venezuela's inflation rate had already rendered it nearly worthless within weeks of issue. The 50,000 bolívar soberano was part of a redenomination effort launched in August 2018 that stripped five zeroes from the old bolívar fuerte — yet the underlying monetary collapse continued so rapidly that even these new high denominations became insufficient for basic transactions within months.
Printing domestically at the Casa de la Moneda de Venezuela, rather than contracting an established security printer abroad, reflected the country's severe foreign exchange constraints by 2019. The security feature set — thread and watermark only — is notably lean for a note of this face value.
