The Allgemeine Deutsche Credit-Anstalt was one of the major Leipzig-based banking institutions drawn into the emergency currency chaos of 1923, when the Reichsbank's inability to supply adequate circulating medium forced regional banks and even private firms to issue their own Notgeld. This note came from the Limbach-Oberfrohna branch — a textile manufacturing town in Saxony — and was printed locally by J. R. Ulbricht, a small regional press rather than any of the specialist security printers handling the larger national issues.
The "Dresdner Bank" designation in the note's title reflects the credit network affiliation, not a separate issuer. By the time denominations reached fifty million Mark, the notes were often obsolete within days of printing.
