Obverse description Printed in brown on cream paper, the obverse is dominated by a large circular vignette on the left incorporating the numeral '5' in bold outline enclosing a seated allegorical figure, surrounded by the arc inscription 'STADT DÜSSELDORF'. The denomination '50.000.000 Millionen Mark' is rendered in bold letterpress across the centre and right of the note, set against an intricate swirling guilloche underprint. Authorization text appears in the upper right, with the issuing declaration, date 'DÜSSELDORF 15. SEPTEMBER 1923', and the facsimile signature of the Oberbürgermeister below; a serial number panel 'REIHE II' is printed at the foot within a ruled cartouche, and the whole is framed by a decorative border of repeated circular ornaments.

Reverse description The reverse is unprinted on the face, showing only the blind embossed impression of the obverse design visible as a ghost image through the thin paper stock, with the serial number cartouche faintly legible in mirror image at the foot. The plain cream paper surface retains the offset impression of the circular ornament border and the central guilloche pattern from the obverse printing.
