Falkenburg in Pommern — now Złocieniec in northwestern Poland — was a small administrative center with no particular financial weight, which makes the fifty-billion-mark denomination issued by its Stadthauptkasse all the more striking. This note belongs to the frantic final phase of Weimar hyperinflation, when municipal treasuries across Germany were authorized to issue Notgeld simply to keep local commerce moving. The Reichsmark stabilization of November 1923 rendered the entire emission worthless within weeks of printing.

Provincial Notgeld of this denomination and origin rarely survived in quantity — most was discarded immediately after stabilization.
