| Additional information |
Tyniec Abbey, founded by Benedictine monks around 1044 under Casimir I the Restorer, is among the oldest continuously inhabited monastic sites in Poland — it survived Tatar raids, Swedish invasions, dissolution under Austrian partition, and Nazi occupation before monks returned permanently in 1939. NBP has developed a long-running series commemorating Polish historic monuments in bimetallic format, of which this is a recent addition.
