| Obverse description | Central square hole flanked on either side by a single Chinese character, the two-character legend reading right to left: 五銖 (Wu Zhu, '5 Zhu'). The characters are cast in low relief within an otherwise plain field, with no inner rim raised square around the hole on this face. The coin exhibits a characteristic green patina consistent with its leaded copper alloy and age. |
