| Obverse description | Facing bust of President Mobutu Sese Seko, depicted in a suit and wearing his characteristic heavy-rimmed glasses, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail. The legend BANQUE DU ZAIRE arcs around the upper field, divided by the portrait with BANQUE to the left and DU ZAIRE to the right.
