| Obverse description | At left, large denomination characters 伍圓 (Five Yuan) set within a decorative panel with guilloche underprint. To the right, an oval vignette presents a classical Chinese waterside gazebo (pavilion) amid trees, with a red rectangular chop overprint at its lower portion. A central rosette guilloche medallion occupies the middle ground.
