| Reverse description | The celebrated West Lake scenic view known as 'Broken Bridge with Thawing Snow' (断桥残雪) is depicted in the central field, showcasing the iconic arched stone bridge amid a winter landscape with partially melting snow. A decorative plum blossom motif rendered in colour accentuates the seasonal theme, lending a vibrant contrast to the frosted surroundings. The inscription '断桥残雪' appears as a legend within the design, identifying the scene by its classical name. The denomination '5' is inscribed in the lower portion of the field. |

| Additional information |
This piece belongs to the West Lake series issued annually by the People's Bank of China, each release depicting one of the four seasons at the Hangzhou site designated a UNESCO World Heritage landscape in 2011. The Winter issue consistently draws the lowest secondary-market premiums of the four seasonal types — collectors tend to chase the Spring and Autumn releases, leaving Winter undersupplied in higher grades relative to its actual mintage.
