The Farmer's Bank of Chung-Chou was a regional bank operating in Henan province under Nationalist-aligned authority. By 1948 the hyperinflationary collapse of Nationalist currency was well advanced — the same year saw the ill-fated Gold Yuan reform attempt — and provincial and quasi-official banks like this one were issuing notes that lost purchasing power almost immediately upon release. Circulation life was measured in weeks, not years.

Surviving examples tend to show heavy use, consistent with rapid turnover during economic chaos rather than hoarding.
