| Additional information |
The People's Liberation Army was formally established on August 1, 1927, following the Nanchang Uprising — an event the Communist Party has since treated as the founding moment of its military identity. The 90th anniversary commemorative series issued in 2017 covered all three service branches individually, with this piece dedicated to the ground forces. China's mint output for PLA anniversary coins has grown considerably since the 60th anniversary issues of 1987, reflecting both expanded precious-metal coin programs and the increasing domestic collector market for patriotic commemoratives.
