| Reverse description | Central device consists of a large stylized chrysanthemum rosette with radiating fine lines filling the petals, set within an eight-lobed cartouche with a recessed circular centre. Surrounding this central motif is a circular legend in Japanese characters reading 大日本 (Great Japan) to the left and 昭和五年 (Year 5 of Shōwa) to the right, interspersed with small floral ornaments serving as stops. The denomination 五圓 (5 Yen) appears at the base of the legend. The whole is enclosed by a finely milled beaded border. |
