| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in grey-green and black intaglio, with an intricate guilloche border incorporating floral rosettes at each corner. A vignette at left centre shows a Shinto torii gate set along a tree-lined stone path leading to a shrine. The large kanji denomination 五圓 (Five Yen) is printed in bold characters to the right of the vignette, flanked by vertical columns of Japanese text giving the bank name and redemption clause, with a red circular Bank of Taiwan seal and the imprint of the Imperial Japanese Government Printing Bureau along the lower margin. |
