Reverse description The reverse is printed predominantly in dark blue-grey, dominated by a large central scalloped medallion of intricate guilloche lathe-work enclosing a smaller inner roundel with the denomination 五圓 rendered in bold kanji. Kanji legends arranged around the perimeter of the medallion state the note's legal tender status and convertibility terms. A red circular official stamp (出納局長) is affixed in the upper left corner, and the overall design is spare, relying entirely on the geometric precision of the central vignette against a lightly textured plain ground.
