Jersey issued a series of "Xeros Ceros" pattern pieces in 2006 as part of an internal investigation into alternative coin compositions and surface treatments aimed at reducing minting costs. Pattern coins of this type were never submitted for public circulation approval and exist in extremely limited numbers, distributed only among mint officials and a small number of institutional collectors.
