Obverse description The centre of the note is occupied by a stylised vignette of the Mugunghwa (Rose of Sharon), rendered in guilloche engraving with a yin-yang symbol at its heart. The denomination numeral '5' appears in a circular guilloche medallion at upper right, with the Korean denomination in vertical lettering at left. A red circular Bank of Korea seal is applied to the right side, and the serial number is printed in red at lower left.
Obverse lettering 한국은행권 오 원 한국은행
(Translation: Korean banknote, Five Won, Bank of Korea)
Reverse description The reverse is executed entirely in purple-violet intaglio, centred on a large guilloche panel framing the bold numeral '5' above the inscription 'WON' in a cartouche. Symmetrical floral rosette vignettes flank the central motif on either side, and ornate corner pieces with interlocking guilloche frames surround the composition. The issuer's name is inscribed across the top in a dark banner.
