Obverse description Central square hole framed by a raised square border, flanked on the right by the four-character reign legend 紹治通寶 (Thiệu Trị Thông Bảo) reading top to bottom, and on the left by the auspicious four-character inscription 萬世永賴 (Vạn Thế Vĩnh Lại) reading top to bottom. Above the square hole, the field is decorated with a celestial motif depicting the sun, moon, and auspicious clouds in low relief. Below the square hole, a finely rendered lotus flower with scrolling foliate tendrils fills the lower field, symbolizing imperial virtue and purity. The entire design is executed in the traditional Vietnamese cash-coin style with bold, deeply struck Chinese characters against a smooth gold field.
