Obverse description Bare-headed, draped bust of Frederick August, Prince-Bishop of Lübeck, facing left, wearing an elaborately decorated mantle with ornamental clasp at the truncation. The portrait is rendered in high relief in the late Baroque style, with the subject's powdered wig curled at the sides and tied at the nape. The mintmaster's mark 'B' appears below the bust truncation. The circular Latin legend surrounding the portrait reads: FRID•AUG D•G•HAER•N•EP•LUB•DUX•S•H•ST•&•D•DUX•REGN•OLD•B, abbreviating his full titles as hereditary administrator of the Bishopric of Lübeck and Duke of Schleswig-Holstein, Stormarn and Dithmarschen, and Duke of Oldenburg.
