Reverse description The large numeral '5' dominates the central field in bold relief, serving as the primary denomination indicator. The currency name 'TEŃGE' is inscribed in capital Latin letters along the lower portion of the field. Flanking the numeral on both sides are symmetrical ornamental scrollwork motifs inspired by traditional Kazakh decorative art, rendered in a flowing, curvilinear style that frames the denomination and fills the field elegantly.

Additional information

Kazakhstan's shift to Latin script for its Kazakh-language text — mandated by presidential decree in 2017 as part of a broader cultural realignment away from Cyrillic — made existing coin dies obsolete overnight. This issue was one of several denominations retooled specifically to reflect that transition, with the Latin-alphabet rendering of "Қазақстан" replacing the Cyrillic form that had appeared on circulating coinage since independence in 1991.
