Bolesław Chrobry — Duke, then King of Poland, crowned in 1025 just weeks before his death — is an unusual subject for a Samoan issue, but these fractional gold pieces from the early 2010s were produced under Samoa's licensing arrangements specifically for the European collector market, where demand for miniature gold with medieval Polish themes ran strong enough to justify the series.
