Obverse description Central field bears the crowned shield of Holland displaying a rampant lion, flanked by the denomination numerals '5' to the left and 'S' to the right. The date 1692 appears in two parts divided by the crown at the top of the shield. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, reading MO : NO : ARGENT : COMIT : HOLL, identifying this as a new silver coinage of the County of Holland. The coin is struck within a beaded inner border and a milled outer rim.
