Obverse description Draped bust of Charles Emmanuel II, Duke of Savoy, facing right, rendered in low relief within the field. The circumferential Latin legend reads CAR. EM. II. D. G. DVX. SAB., identifying the ruler by name and title. The coin shows the characteristic broad flan and somewhat irregular strike typical of billon issues of the Savoyard duchy in the mid-seventeenth century.
