| Obverse description | Central field features the quartered coat of arms of the Duchy of Lucca, displaying the dynastic bearings of the Bourbon-Parma family including fleurs-de-lis, lions, towers, and eagle motifs within a pointed heraldic shield. The shield is surmounted by a ducal crown rendered in fine relief. The circular legend DUCATO DI LUCCA runs along the periphery, flanked by a small six-pointed star, and the entire design is enclosed within a finely beaded border. |

| Reverse description | Plain field bearing the denomination numeral 5 in a large, elegant typeface at the top center, followed by the word SOLDI in bold capital letters at mid-field, and the date 1833 in large numerals at the lower center. The design is notably simple and typographic, relying entirely on lettering without any additional ornamental devices. The whole is enclosed within a continuous beaded border matching that of the obverse. |
