Obverse description The state emblem of Uzbekistan is centred in the left field, framed by traditional national ornamental underprints in multicolour guilloche. Below the emblem, a pair of Simurgh birds rendered in the style of the tilework entrance of the Nodir Devonbegi madrasa in Bukhara appear against guilloche patterning, with the upper portion of the Kalan minaret of the Poi Kalon mosque complex visible above. Denomination numerals and Cyrillic inscriptions identifying the issuing authority are printed in intaglio across the face.
