Obverse description Printed in orange, the obverse is framed by a fine guilloche border. A circular vignette at upper left contains a front-facing bust portrait of Queen Victoria in formal attire. To the right, the bank title appears in bold serif lettering above the promise-to-pay text, with the denomination "FIVE SHILLINGS" rendered in larger display type; below, a decorative cartouche at lower left repeats the denomination, flanked by rosette ornaments. The note bears perforated SPECIMEN cancellation across the signature area.
