Additional information

Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in 1991 and has never received international recognition, yet it has issued its own currency and coinage continuously since 1994. The Panthera Tigris issue belongs to a wildlife series that has no particular connection to the region — tigers are not native to the Horn of Africa — making these coins straightforwardly collectible novelties rather than documents of local natural history.
