Obverse description Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King George VI, modelled by Thomas Humphrey Paget, occupies the central field. The surrounding legend arcs across the upper periphery, with the denomination FIVE SHILLINGS inscribed along the lower rim. The portrait presents the king in a restrained, unadorned style consistent with the austerity aesthetic of the immediate post-war period. The truncation of the bust is clean, with no drapery or insignia depicted.
