| Obverse description | Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King George VI, modelled by Thomas Humphrey Paget, occupies the central field. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and facial features. The surrounding legend GEORGIVS SEXTVS REX runs along the upper periphery in bold Roman capitals, with the engraver's initials HP appearing discreetly at the truncation. A toothed border frames the entire obverse. |
