Obverse description The Jamaican coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield bearing five pineapples on a cross, supported by two Taíno figures in traditional dress — a female supporter to the left holding a basket of fruit, and a male supporter to the right bearing a bow. Above the shield, a crocodile crest rests upon a royal helm and mantling. A scroll beneath the shield bears the national motto. The legend 'JAMAICA' curves along the upper periphery, with 'FIVE SHILLINGS' disposed along the lower arc, all within a beaded border.
