| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust of Queen Anne, her hair loosely dressed and adorned with a laurel sprig, wearing a pearl drop earring and a lace-trimmed mantle. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and drapery. The denomination numeral 5 appears in the lower field beneath the bust. The circular Latin legend reads ANNA · D · G · M · BR · FR · & HIB · REG · (Anne, by the Grace of God, Queen of Great Britain, France and Ireland), separated by pellet stops and running along the inner edge of the milled border. |
