| Obverse description | Brown and green note enclosed within an ornate guilloche border, with the Fiji coat of arms vignette centred on the face. The denomination numerals "5/-" occupy the upper left and right corners within decorative rosette medallions, while a bold green panel across the centre carries the promise-to-pay text and the denomination legend "FIVE SHILLINGS".
