Reverse description Central raised circular medallion bearing the large numeral 5 above the Swahili legend TANO, with SHILINGI inscribed along the upper arc of the inner circle, all separated by dot ornaments. Surrounding the central medallion are four decorative cartouches arranged in a cross pattern, containing agricultural symbols representing Tanzania's rural economy: a bunch of bananas at the top, sorghum or millet stalks at the lower left, maize at the lower right, and a recumbent zebu bull at the bottom. The overall composition is framed by interlaced ribbon-style borders within the decagonal field.
